Oklahoma St receives 1 year ban due to assistant coach Lamont Evans taking money to steer players to agents. Lamont Evans did not cooperate with the NCAA during the investigation. That may have played a part in the sanctions. Does this give Arizona a clue as to what to exect?? What do you all think?

Statement from the NCAA

The conduct at issue in this case was related to a broader scheme that involved money and influence at the intersection of college and professional basketball. The scheme resulted in the arrest and prosecution of multiple individuals including college basketball coaches on conspiracy and bribery charges, and it led to significant NCAA reforms.

According to the NCAA, the former Oklahoma State assistant refused to cooperate with the investigation.

Evans didn't cooperate with the NCAA, took more money than Book and was involved in TWO programs that were under investigation (South Carolina and Oklahoma State).

Since Book complied during the investigation and kept the money for personal reasons (didn't pay players)...I wouldn't expect anything more than Probation.  Perhaps it's possible that we lose a scholarship for 1-3 years...but there's NO way we get a postseason ban.

The only way we take a big hit is if the Phelps/Shareef situation sheds light on an academic scandal, which would eventually become UCLA's problem.

Also...where did the Daily Star come up with $20K?  I thought Book received $15,000.  Maybe I started to finally forget about this situation because it has been ongoing for 2.5 years...

OSU will appeal this.  The case shouldnt be adjudged differently from other cases just because it was revealed during a broader investigation resulting in NCAA reforms as mentioned in the NCAA statement.  There was no connection between the OSU circumstances and the LSU circumstances as an example.  NCAA spokesman Stating that they were related Helps OSU in their appeal.

Cant imagine Arizona not availing itself of the alternative dispute resolution process after this.

For comparison purposes, OSU had two minor level one violations.

Kansas allegedly has FIVE major level one Violations. Unless the independent appeal group saves their ass, KU is about to get destroyed. Theyll steal the attention from Arizonas slap on the wrist.
