What's your ideal starting 5 for next season?

What's your ideal starting 5 for next season? Does Gettings start over Ira? What happens if we land Jordan Brown? Randolph doesn't look to be coming back. Who are your 5?

Curious what bigs start.

Jeter/ Gettings/ Lee/ Zeke/ Potentially Brown

If Brown does come and is cleared to play right away then someone isn't playing.

Don't think he'll start but pretty certain Ira Lee will get minutes. Gettings is an upperclassmen will have learned system longer than Zeke & potentially Brown and should be our best floor spacer at the 4. He was also a skilled passer. Could help open up offense more. Jeter has shown himself to be solid but also injury brown & limited against bigger athletic guys. Zeke & Brown could have the best potential and depending how quick they learn could have the biggest impacts.

I think it is clear Nico, Williams, & Green start on the perimeter. Bench guys should be Armstrong, Doutrive, & IMO a transfer. I think Hazzard is most likely.

Mannion
Williams
Green
Gettings
Jeter

I would think that as of now Nico, Josh and Chase are locks to start, Brandon is a near lock too. Then I think the pairing of Jeter and Gettings is better than Lee cuz it puts a tradition post guy paired with a stretch 4.
Then sub in Zeke (stretch) and Ira (post) and you have a lot of versatility in the front court rotation.

And I have no idea where Brown would fit in that rotation if we land him and if he can play right away

My ideal 5?

Bibby, Arenas, Jefferson, Wright and Ayton...

Seriously..

PG - We need a true, pass first, distribute and make everyone better PG. The only pure versions of this we have seen since Miller has been here are TJ and PJC - who was was somewhat limited. Williams is not even remotely a PG so I really hope Mannion can pass. That will matter.

2/3 The other guards/wings will all work themselves out.  I really beleive that we need outside shooting - so I hope to see whoever our best perimeter shooters are playing. This is not more true of anyone than Virginia. They won with a pack line D because they could bomb away with the best of 'em. Lauri Markannen was the last great outside shooter and he was on pace to set an NCAA record before Miller 'moved him inside'.  We need 2-3 steady, reliable 3 point shooters and we need to be taking at least 20 three pointers every game.

IMO, the PG and the 4 & 5 are the most critical positions for us next year. Jeter is not a center - his natural positions is the 4. From what little I have seen of Nnaji he is amazing at the rim...really think we need Jeter at the 4 and Nnaji to play center - even if he is green to start the season. If Koloko is better than Nnaji, then Koloko. Gettings 6'9" and we are too short on the front line as it is. Ira Lee is not Arizona starter good and despite his excellent improvement - he is not ever going to be. He's a terrific guy off the bench but we need some more talent on the floor.

Mannion
Green
Armstrong
Gettings
Jeter

(6th) Williams
Nnaji
Lee

The 4 spot is probably the hardest to predict at the moment Zeke is obviously the most talented, and Ira the most experienced and probably the best defender of the three. But I'd go with Gettings he's had a semester with the program to get adjusted to the system and we'd have 4 shooters on the floor to compliment our drivers and Chase in the middle. Hopefully by the time conference play starts rolling Zeke is ready to slide in the starting position to max out our potential.

Nico
B-Will
J. Green
Ira
Jeter

The 4 spot is interesting but no matter what happens Ira should start from day 1. His progression and efficiency towards the end of the season was great, shooting in the 60% range towards the end. He reminds me of a poor man's PJ Washington. Also his energy and hustle will be key to our success next season. Off the bench Doutrive, Armstrong, Zeke, (Smith and Randolph maybe) and Gettings will round out a very strong bench. I don't see Barcello or Koloko seeing the floor next year.

I don't want to speculate too much on the Jordan Brown situation, but if we add him and he can play right away that's a HUGE plus since we desperately need rim protection. Koloko will be that in the future, but I don't see him physically or offensively capable to play next year. Adding Jordan Brown would be HUGE for Zona, but since he isn't committed and we don't know if he could play then I don't want to call him a starter.

I love Ira, heís actually one of my favorite guys on the team. I love his energy and passion and his skills have developed nicely. I actually agree that he deserves to start, but donít think he should next to Jeter. I think they compliment each other very poorly.
I think itís clear Jeter will start, no way he comes back to not start. So then I think Gettings or Nnaji are better fits to start next to him

I think Jeter is too slow to guard 4's, especially in college where a lot of 4's are just the best rebounding 3 on the roster.  Jeter is plenty coordinated, and he's good at positioning; but he just doesn't have the athleticism to guard most 4's in my opinion.

Starting:
PG Nico
SG Williams
SF Green
PF Lee/Gettings
C Jeter
I am would probably start Lee over Gettings, but that could change as the season goes on. Lee progressed quite well this past year and hope he stays on that path. Then again with our other freshman coming they will certainly put up some competition for minutes. That is my two cents.....
