Was Freshman Rawle Alkins better than Sophomore Rawle?

Sophomore Rawle scored more points per game 13.1pts, but when you look at Freshman Rawle's overall stats I believe Freshman Rawle was better even with the lower scoring avg of 10.9pts.  Freshman Rawle had a better shooting percentage from both 2 & 3, & FT. He also turned the ball over less. Sophomore Rawle had a little higher stats in steals, blocks, & Def reb. Freshman Rawle also played in a lot less games. Maybe it's because I expected him to do so much more especially after seeing how he did at the NBA combine. I know Sophomore Rawle was hampered by an ankle injury, but which Rawle Alkins do you think was better?

Thanks for posting the stats but the tried and true eye test would have led me to the same conclusion. Rawle never seemed to get back to 100% which is understandable considering the timing of the injury couldnít have been any worse. He had more head scratching turnovers than just about anyone on the team and to me that is indicative of him being uncomfortable or out of rythym.

Yes. Thought he would emerge as our defensive stopper and energy guy, kinda like Nick Johnson.  He didn't really do any of that.  Think his mind was on prepping for the next NBA combine, not team success.  Think that's what Ayton and Trier's minds were on also.

As much as I love RA - IMO he's going top fade into oblivion as he tries to make it to the league.  Same with ZO.  I see why they are leaving as their stock might only get worse.  Look for both to play overseas

if rawle can develop a consistent and mechanically sound shot and can learn how to dribble, I may take his nba prospect a bit more serious. At this point, I don't know what he brings to the table beyond heart.

I also thought he would be our go-to defender a la Kadeem Allen. I am a bit disappointed in terms of overall contribution this season by him but I also think it is mostly because of the injuries he had to deal with. He lost his rhythm

Other than a few games I was rather unimpressed with Rawleís performance. Not that he didnít have some good reasons behind it, but purely based on eye test, he just wasnít the factor we thought he would be. His draft stock may not gonup much but I could definitely seem him returns my next year and switch hitting with Akot at small forward so Akot can move up to small ball power forward in times of need.

Any chance he might not hire an agent and test the waters first?

I may go a step further than anyone else here but I was HUGELY disappointed, sometimes it even  felt embarrassing watching Rawle this season. Aside from the New Mexico game, A&M I think, and the last 5 minutes against OR St. he was totally underwhelming.  Of course the whole team seemed to lack killer instinct and relentless attacking mentality, but Rawle was supposed to be the embodiment of the savage warrior, but he just flat out didnít bring it 80% of his time on the court. He took at least a half off each game except for perhaps 3.  At least a dozen games he just didnít show up at all, not anywhere near the energy or leadership or toughness that he was capable of providing. He went from being one of my all time favorite Wildcats after his freshman year, to not even cracking a top 15 list for Arizona wing players. His savage life bravado turned out to be hollow fluff talk. He and Trier are responsible for the lost opportunity this season was, more than anyone else. More importantly, heís a classy young man with great character. I certainly wish only a successful and positive future for Rawle.

Yes he was.
Sophomore RA was focused on showing the scouts he worked on the some the things they told him to work on.
While doing that, he forgot what made him so valuable.

I agree that Rawle didn't seem the same this year. But-- I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. His foot injury held him back, and we just don't know if he was ever 100%. He will always be special to me for his big smile, and his no fear attitude.  We all wish him nothing but the best.  This was just a hard, unusual and very weird year.  We all need to move on.

Without a doubt the performance on court of a freshman Rawle > sophomore Rawle.  Looks like he might have been a little bit busy on launching his Savage Life clothing line the last few months too.  Sigh...
