I think the worst thing a good program/team could have is too much talent riding the bench. There is no benefit to having players who are disgruntled and think they should be playing/starting as the backups who run shadow offense/defense in practice. They don't want to be there, doing that, in that role. Their effort or lack there of ends up hurting more than helping. Good attitude bench players and reserves are crucial to help the starters polish up their games and get better in practice. I think Barcello falls into the category of a good player to have on the team.

I don't know about this problem with too much talent, but there is one thing that we may be overlooking when considering it.  Before Coach Miller came to UofA, where he was coaching he didn't have the #1 or #2 recruiting classes.  What he had was a group of blue collar players who not only bought into his program, but he also played them in waves.  Fresh faces, legs, and shots every 4 minutes.  He also did pretty close to that when he first arrived at UofA.  Is it possible that he's now decided to revert to what brought him to the dance in the first place?  Is it possible he's going to be doing mass substitutions every four minutes in this coming season?  Why else would he just keep on recruiting until the team is loaded/overloaded?  I remember Derrick Williams, Soloman, KP, etc., not beating teams with fantastic skill sets, but by just wearing them down to the bone.  Will it happen again?  We'll see.  I think it's very possible, myself.

That is an excellent point Titan!
It was something I have discussed before, it started in 2011, with the four-man class that was all 4*.
He followed that with the 2012 class of three 5* bigs.

I believe Miller kept trying to ďone upĒ the previous class in some way.
He followed that with Gordon who would have never stepped foot on a college campus if he didnít have to.
Followed that by arguably the greatest HS player in the state of California in Johnson.
2015 is when he brought in the 4 5* prospects, even though one didnít make it.

I believe then is when Miller realized you canít try to be like Duke/Kentucky and try to load up on OND 5* prospects.
2016/2017 he found the right balance and we might have had a repeat in of 2015 in 2018 if it werenít for that FBI scandal.
I expect classes going forward to look more like 2019: 1-2 ONDs, a 2-3 guy & a project guy.

The reason to keep recruiting is to get better...at every spot on the floor.

Hate to break it to anyone, but literally every single player we had last year was NOT 'Arizona good'. Jeter would be a nice back up for a good AZ team.

Ironically, I think this is one of the most likable groups Miller has had and they all seem like good guys... but seriously, if every single one of them leave....we're not gonna be any worse.

It would be nice to keep some continuity especially among role players.  I would rather see kids returning for sophomore and junior seasons than taking some of these grad transfers that seem like lateral moves.  Although, it is hard to complain about how Miller has recruited in his time here as we are one of the winning-est programs of this decade.  Cant really criticize the method that has continually achieved 30+ win seasons, Pac-12 championships, deep tournament runs and produced many NBA players.

Actually I think we had a great season with everything that was going on. Sean Miller may be over-recruiting because he expects to lose a scholarship or 2 and would rather be much more selective on specific 5 star one and done freshmen he offers to. Its a war of attrition at this point. Hopefully he gets a contract extension sooner than later when the dust clears.
