After seeing UCLA go down I'm starting to get super nervous about our first round game against Buffalo.  I'm already having nightmares of Buffalo hitting a record number of 3's. I'm also worried about the refs either being told or taking it upon themselves to make bad calls against us & cause us to lose the game in some way or another.  Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I can't help being extra nervous with all that's gone on this year. I hope I'm wrong.  Anybody else getting this feeling?

Iím worried about a ref somewhere along the way taking it upon himself to lash out on us for the FBI/ ESPN stuff. It would be very unfair and down right dirty but would not surprise me. I would also hope that if that happens that ref would suffer an extremely rare illness for pulling that BS.

ONLY thing that worries me would be the refs. If we played this game 100 times with fair refs I would expect us to win around 95 of those games. They don't have a big guy, best big dude is 6'8" so Ayton should absolutely feast, Dusan too. Plus we played like beasts in the P12 tourney and in the beginning of the year when smaller teams let us play fast Trier was dominant.

I echo the above sentiments. If the game is called equitably, we win. That's a big if.

I legitimately had a bad dream last night that AZ went down to Buffalo in spectacular fashion, if that answers your question lol. I definitely think we should win this game. I would be way more confident in the way the team is currently playing if we hadn't seen something similar last year (peaking in the P12 tourney, but then not showing up the same way in the NCAA tourney). I think this team has infinite reasons to prove to everyone how good they are, question is whether they can sustain that intensity and translate it to the tournament.

Add on to that nervousness the fact that St. Bonaventure fairly easily beat UCLA; we had to play our A game to beat them last week. So does this mean the P12 is as bad as everyone thinks? It's really not realistic to make that decision based on one game, also the environment was different last night, and perhaps UCLA just didn't show up (I only watched the end), who knows.  But I would probably have felt better if UCLA had curb-stomped them, even though I generally hate watching them win.

I think we'll all feel way better about the tournament as a whole if we come out and play hard for 40 minutes, winning easily. At least we only have one more day to wait! Bear Down!

what happened to the Ruins won't have any effect on our game

the final result of the Arizona/Buffalo game will depend our the players and coaches, and to a lesser extent the refs; there may be crooked refs, incompetent refs, even some with grudges or other issues, but the game will be decided by the players

we're good, very good, if we show up

and they know what this is all about, they'll either be all there to kick Buffalo's ass or they may take another (shorter) trip to the Bahamas

its also possible that the Bulls play the best in school history and beat us

our upside is tremendous, we have talent and are peaking at the right time

our downside is obvious, Buffalo could be the next Santa Clara, we might collapse like we did with Illinois or Utah

this is not 'our best last chance for a long time' to go deep; we may be in for a long spell where 5stars are hard to attract, or CSM may surprise us all (again) and quickly return to the top of the recruiting charts; regardless, we don't need to put any more pressure on the team

have a little faith baby, pre-season polling is statistically a better indicator or March play than the final regular season ranking are

its why they play the games, relax and enjoy

Bear Down

I watched most of the UCLA vs St. Bonaventure and it was terrible. It seemed like UCLA was in desperation mode the whole game jacking up unnecessary 3's and turning over the ball non-stop. St. Bonaventure did a decent job on defense but that was a highly winnable game on UCLA's part - worst I have seen UCLA play the entire season (11 turnovers at the half).

For Arizona, my only worry is that Buffalo will crowd the inside and swarm Ayton forcing the fate of our game in our guard play. I pray that we will not do what UCLA did, jacking up 3's instead of driving to the basket. We need to keep up with their fast paced offense and play with the same defensive intensity we had in the PAC12 tourney. BTFD

I am a little concerned about running twin towers in this game defensively especially considering pace.  We will have to really punish them inside and get them in early foul trouble.  No crying about fouls while the ball is racing the other way putting all the pressure on our primary guards.

As a Cats fan for around 30 years....every first round game makes me nervous.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and all the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

not to worry, ESPN has UofA at 80% probability of winning so we're good right?

oh wait, ESPN is full of shit, so. nvm

better yet, Vegas has us -8 or -9, and the o/u is around 158 which would seem low for a Buffalo game; the smart money says not to worry

that won't stop most of us from worrying, we want this team to do well, even more than usual

Even though it is not good to overlook ANYBODY at this time of year, I think we will get the W. They simply do not have the size to match our bigs, and especially since the way the have been playing lately (with a newfound purpose). Us by double digits. BTFD!
