Honest question, a bit curious.
« on: March 14, 2019, 10:12:29 AM »
This is the only forum I read/participate in, I don't have facebook, instagram, or twitter. There are some posters on here that folks don't like, some more than others, understandable, not every one always agrees. I struggle to understand why people continue to read posts from others that bother them. To me it's like drinking milk, realizing the milk has gone sour, but continuing to drink it then complaining about how you 'had' to drink the sour milk. I just don't get it.

Insults, name calling, back handed 'complements'  these all seem to come with peoples replys when commenting on others posts. So here is my question, is this the standard on forums and social media? Have people given upon being respectful towards others and their opinions? Does this some how make others feel superior towards the ones they mock, are people incapable of a simple reply, or is this the way it goes now a days?

Thanks

this is a great board. I know many boosters that read them all and like this one. Tons of potential here.

Divergent views are never well received in forums... I have never understood it...guess I never will.

I don't like Miller - but I give reasons why. For which I get called 'troll' and 'baiter' and 'hater' and all sorts of other things.  Seems to me my points are salient and I am interested in others viewpoints, especially when they differ from mine. But what get, at best, are generalities, platitudes of how great AZ is and called names, etc..

I'm with you Flag...in a sense that I don't belong to any social media outlets.

It's funny that your tag-line is "If you belong to a group where everyone agrees, you might be in a cult".  Great quote because it emphasizes that I love to hear different viewpoints regarding the program.

Even though the topic of "Miller will be fired" was BS...I like thinking about the "what-ifs"...because anything could change overnight with the NCAA investigation (and it's fun to consider "backup plans" if Miller were to coach elsewhere).

I don't like making the SAME arguments on a daily basis.  Some new viewpoints on Miller and the future of the program would be nice...but that will come with the success of next season.  I'm optimistic that the Cats can bounce back & finally earn Miller's first Final Four next Spring.

This sentence could have been written -- "I don't like Miller, but I've given unending reasons why, unmercifully." Which to my way of thinking, would be a more honest picture.

Slightly off topic -- Were you one of the fans that sought Tomey's departure?

You're mistaken if you think people think you're a troll because of your opinions on Miller or AZ basketball.  It's the fact that you turn every single post into the same thing.  Other posters can't make a post about the weather in Tucson without you posting three paragraphs about how you hate Miller; as if you haven't explained it in detail 100 other times.  We just grow tired of the same message regardless of the original topic.

Since most posts are about the AZ basketball team I can see why your thoughts on Miller seem relevant to almost all of them; but the same message doesn't have to be delivered every day on every post.  Most people come here because they love AZ basketball and want to discuss it with other people.  When every discussion has to have a negative edge it sucks most of the joy out of the experience, which tends to make people annoyed which in turn gets a reaction out of them.  Sort of exactly what a troll is intending to do, whether that's your goal or not.

JumpinJohnny you posts can be like "laser beams." I was thinking about the same thing the other day. The Arizona Football Program has never really rebounded since the departure of Coach Tomey. It's been mediocre to sub par.

Looks like "someone" dinged you. No worries -- You're back to square one. Others, if they wish, can follow suit. I like laser beams, and I especially like Coach Tomey. I've always believed the University did him dirty. Too bad -- he was one of the good guys.
