Georgetown PG transfer James Akinjo to Arizona could happen
« on: December 04, 2019, 12:34:36 AM »
Akinjo was averaging about 13 points a game and is transferring from Georgetown. He was being recruited by Arizona until Brandon Williams was a done deal and ultimately chose the Hoyas. Not saying its a sure thing, but Arizona is in the mix.

I have mixed emotions about Akinjo.

Arizona could really use a talented PG next year.  He has enough skill to be our starter...

I watched him play a few times last year & he was a terrible outside shooter.  Not only did he throw up a lot of contested shots, he was a sloppy ballhandler.

Akinjo's intensity on defense fits well with the Cats & this could work out if Miller keeps his shots under control.  If not, I'd pass...

I would say  if he is tranfering  from the Hoyas  because he wants to an not because he got in trouble an arizona  can get him I would say  yes because  arizona needs atleast 1 pg. Maybe 2  if b.will was health I would say b.will  could play pg. None of us are sure how his knee will hold up. One thing with akinjo  is he has experience  he would have to take better shots though.

Akinjo won Big East FOY last year. And Damian Lillard in March called him the toughest pg in the country.

With Arizona's need at that position next season (Nico is gone and BWill is iffy) - sounds good to me.

With the PG position up in the air for next season, I'd take this kid in a heartbeat. Seems like a no brainier.

Could you imagine a lineup that includes Brown, Z. Williams, Terry, B. Williams, Akinjo, Baker, and Koloko? Would need a little more depth, but don't think we'd have too hard a time finding transfers wanting to play with a core as strong as that.

I would take him also as long as he is a good fit for arizona  an is a good kid an will not end up like dd arizona really needs a pg. In 2020  so why not  an if not him it will probably be a grad transfer.
