BREAKING: Book Richardson says he had no knowledge of Miller paying players!

Lots of breaking news going on. This is the biggest as Book has now made a statement saying Miller wasn't paying players. See the statement below.

Richardson later issued a statement via direct message to Star correspondent Adam Zagoria. It read: “I have no knowledge of Sean Miller paying players or attempting to pay them … I was on trial no one else. Again I apologize to the University of Arizona, President Robbins and the kind and great people of Tucson for this. Thank you Tucson and all the Wildcats across the world!”

...in direct contradiction to what he said on tape when he had no idea anyone was listening and had no reason to say otherwise. This guy is full of crap and now a proven liar (either lying now or lying on tape).

Glad he is going to jail...although IMO, the punishment does not fit the crime. 3 months seems right for lying though...so there is, at least, some justice.

Just because a good person makes a bad mistake doesn't make them a bad person. likewise,if a bad person dose a few good deeds doesn't make them a good person. Book definitely had more of a positive impact in many peoples lives that shouldn't be overlooked.

He answered the lie with a lie. The FBI is a living lie. Undercover is deceitful to start with. If I think someone is not on the up I would not tell them the truth either! I would be convicted as a liar in this case as well. Screw the FBI on this one.

Yes, the entire episode is one huge lie and one horrible joke.

The point is that if you don't get involved with dumb stuff like this, then you don't have to worry.

What if Book had told Dawkins he had no interest in meeting? One simple act of moral courage and better ethics and none of this ever happens.

I can agree with that but the system is not consistent and In fact is very corrupt. It can be the NCAA, FBI, Court systems, Congress, and anything else. Hell, the traffic court held in Gas City Indiana is one of the biggest rail road jobs ever. The county court in Marion is just as bad. Since when is it guilty until proven innocent? Yet that is what happens when you have to prove innocence. It is suppose to be the authorities proving guilt. Not happening these days.

Sure...but I believe that good people can be punished for making mistakes. Despite the overall fiasco of this entire episode, 3 months in jail seems about right.

My experience says that first offense usually have the book thrown at them while habitual offenders have their hand slapped and get off. Courts are crap!
Have seen guys plea to second degree murder to 4 years and guys stealing candy first offense get 7 to 10 years. Total crap!

Terry and Lute didn’t deserve jail time for the $45k.

Book likely lied to Dawkins. Regardless, there are people in this world that deserve more negative attention and jail time than a man like Book Richardson.

I still believe that his actions are no different from any other coach in D-1; it’s absurd that he was made the “example”.

Screw Adidas, ESPN, the FBI and the NCAA for singling out an individual that is now forced away from his family, students, friends and passion (basketball).
