Arizona Vs Oregon discussion thread 1/12/2018 @ 12pm on ESPN2
The Wildcats started off slow against Oregon state, but turned it up in the 2nd half to get the win against the Beavers. Oregon picked up a big upset over the sun devils in Phoenix on Thursday night. Oregon knows that Arizona is the team to beat and have circled this game on there calendars, so the Wildcats will have to be ready to play a full 40 minutes against the ducks. Let us know how you think the CATS will do in this high noon match-up.
How will the Cats do? I bet that there's not very many people at all, if any who knows the answer to that.
Let's see. I think I can do this. Oh yeah...IF the Wildcats come out on fire, with 40 minutes of in your face lightning quick defense and the offense scoring like a well oiled machine...Oregon has about a 2% chance of winning.
Let's say the Wildcats come out with 24 minutes of pretty damn good defense and an equal amount of decent offense. It would probably be a 60-40 % chance of the Wildcats winning over Oregon's chance of winning. If the Wildcats come out and play mediocre defense with Missing lay-ups offense...Oregon is going to win.(with Arizona having a 2% chance of winning.
There. I did it. I did the best I could considering no one knows how the Wildcats will play. We can all wish/hope/speculate/and/or pray. But until we actually see them, I don't think anyone knows how they will play.
There is only ONE thing I want more than for the Cats to win...That is for the Cats to win like a team loaded with talent should. The Only thing worse for them not to play like that is for them to lose. In which case I will(for about 4 days) feel like a One Ton Dually ran over me, thought something fell off of the truck and backed up to see what that "Bump Bump Bump" was. So if anyone thinks I'm being hard on them, it's a lot harder on me when they lose. So....BEAR DOWN WILDCATS!!!
Oregon is similar to Asu this year, passing around the perimeter until they get an open shot outside, not much of an inside game. They won the game and dominated the boards in Tempe because asu has no inside game period. Ducks shoot the ball very well, but will go to the paint if needed. Need to play a full game of D like we did in 2nd half of the osu game. I doubt we are as cold in shooting as Thursday.. balls just weren't falling in on good looks. Bear Down let's get the W!
Wildcats are favored by 9 points against the Ducks
I doubt this team will lay an egg like last Saturday. I say we cover the spread
Playing this game at home is going to play in favor for us.
Should they go on a run, our crowd is able to keep us in, and our opponents out of a game.
As far as Oregon, they love to drive and kick.
I did not see much of their offense come from inside the paint off of a post-up, or anything other than something off the dribble.
Pitchard/Brown are the only ones that will attack the basket and look to finish.
The rest of the Ducks are perimeter shooters that hand around the 3PT line.
What we need to do (on defense) is run them off the 3PT line, force them to try to finish over our bigs and take our chances.
On offense, we need to use our size inside and play inside for a full 40mins.
Throw it inside to Ristic/Ayton and let them work inside-out, then when time to rest them, you let Trier go to work and create for himself and the rest of the guys on the floor.
Our defense is going to be the key to winning this game though.
I hope we win and begin to separate ourselves from the rest of the PAC-12.
For the love of all things holy, can we please see this stacked UA roster come out and kick the crap out of a quality opponent by playing hard and aggressive for 40 minutes? It's mid-season... lets get our shit together.
Ducks are similar to ASU although they are less dangerous on the offensive end and slightly better than them in defense + Altman > Hurley. If we fight like we did vs the school up north, I believe we will complete the sweep. I really think that this can be unstoppable if they consistently fight in D as well.
Rebounding factor: The Ducks are 11-1 when outrebounding opponents. (not expecting this with this line up although we might need wing men to collect some boards like Troy Brown do for Ducks in this one)
Game Day Uniforms!
Anything that is remotely similar to the OSU start will not bode well for Arizona. Dana Altman is a great coach and doesn't let up once he has his foot on his opponents throat. He's proved that in his tenure at Oregon
1 hour til game time. Time to get fired up!
On handed Alley-oop from the Beast!
This will be forever known as the vibrator game
