Arizona Vs ASU discussion thread 2/15/2018 @ 7pm on ESPN

Arizona is coming off of a big win over USC to take control of the Pac-12. ASU is riding a 3 game win streak that includes wins over both USC & UCLA. The sun devils suffered their first loss of the season to the Wildcats at Mckale center when they were ranked #3 nationally (matching their highest ranking in school history) and were the nation's last remaining undefeated team when they took on the then ranked #17 Wildcats in Tucson on Dec. 30. They will be looking for revenge at home in front of a sold out crowd. The rivalry game will be televised at 7pm in front of a national audience on ESPN. The devils (Now ranked #25) are in need of another big win & will be looking to give Arizona (ranked #17 again) all they've got. Let's talk about the CATS putting a beat down on the SCUM devils. BEARDOWN!

Remember when people were saying that this Game would determine the PAC champion?  Haha.

I recall.  For this game maybe not the PAC 12, but certainly a defining game for the Cats. A loss is not going to be a "good loss" we need to rove we can win in a hostile road gaem.  The good news is:  it's McKale North - HOWEVER - the ASSU fans will be larger in number and much louder than ever

I'd like to see the Curtain of Distraction turn into the Curtain of Depression by the end of this game

Exciting game for once! Even if I believe we will win the conference regardless of the outcome of this particular game. My predictions- ASU will make runs (fuggers shoot 3's like crazy at home), the refs will be terrible at officiating our size, we will pull away late as Ayton, Alkins, and Allonzo prove to be the 3 best players on the court.

I'd like to see the Arizona offense take it to the hoop a lot and get the fouls on them.  Get a bunch of free throws against the Scumdevils.  Get their bigs in foul trouble.  I'd like to see Rawle driving up the middle getting fouls plus and 1's on their guards.  Zo also.  What works for them usually works against them.  Pass into Ayton and Ristic, and they either score or kick out to our guards and wings for the 3's.  The Wildcats need to spank that A$$ in Tempe.

Bear Down Wildcats!

Back on December 30th, tt was extremely hard for ASU to defend Ayton (23pts, 19 rebs, 3 blocks) and Dusan who wasn't playing like he has been for the past couple of games. I don't think they have an answer for both of them let alone just one. Add that to Ayton defending only one guy like he did vs USC and Miller seeing the benefit of that, he will have lots of energy even in the end (unless he comes out flat like he did vs. UCLA).

As long as we have hands ready for their triples, I think we will do fine. However, Cats need to show determination and strength for this game and want it more than they do. Because we all know despite their relatively successful season, a win vs. Cats is more season-defining for their fanbase. Go Cats!

ASSU does not have the height to matchup with us.
White/Mitchell can't stop Ayton/Ristic, and we HAVE to be able get the ball inside to them and play inside out.
Everything should be heading to the basket, make them foul us, go deep into their bench and put them away early!

We just need to come out blazing, and keep our foot on the GAS! Don't let up! Let them know who really the team to beat! I can't stand ASSU fans, so let's show them who is boss when it comes to basketball! BTFD! I would go to the game, but I have two papers due by tomorrow.

We do have a big size advantage from 2-5. We outweigh them at those positions by 25-40 lbs and can be more physical (assuming fouls are manageable). We tend to do better against teams that are lacking in height in the post like ASU does. I think the mostly likely way ASU wins is if they are hitting their 3's and we aren't. Otherwise, it's our game.
