This year will be Miller's anomaly because he can justify giving 11 guys playing time.

Unless Barcello & Doutrive seriously struggle...Koloko will likely be the only guy left out of the regular rotation.
Worst part about that his skill set (rim protector) is what we will need most.
Again, Iím interested in seeing how this team is going to be solidified on both ends.
With seven incoming players, that is a lot to adjust/adapt to and expect to compete/win the PAC-12.

If Miller isnít going to give someone meaningful minutes, Iíd rather he try to redshirt them and sell them on the idea of having a much bigger role after getting bigger, stronger, skill development, etc.
Even if that comes from a guards AB/DD, or a big like CK/SG shoot the shot coach.

Who was the last AZ BB player to red shirt? It just does not happen.

Kadeem Allen
Matt Korcheck
Angelo Chol was headed there but he dipped out when that idea was tossed around.

It does happen, most prospects just donít want to do it.

This is kinda where I was leaning too, mostly cuz I just donít know how good Gettings is, but I have a hard time thinking that Miller would be cool with running a rotation of only 3 guys taller than 6í6.

OK - so 2 players in 10 years and 1 of whom was a total project even to be a back up brought to a team that had Hill, Ashley, Zeus, Jarrett (and sometimes Parrom) on it's front line and Chol ahead of him. Korcheck was a warm body that Miller hoped he could get 4-5 minutes per game from and he did exactly that. I doubt Chol would have redshirted with the departure of both Hill and Jarrett and the relative youth of Zeus at that point. Remember we played pretty small often sliding RHJ or Gordon to the four to sub for Ashley. Chol would have gotten Korchecks time and maybe little more coming off the bench as a junior.

I forgot about Allen officially being a redshirt, always think of him as transfer and not a JC guy. He was redshirted behind TJ, Gabe York, Stanely Johnson, Elliott Pitts and PJC...  the talent parallel is almost perfect: TJ (Hazzard), York (Williams), Stanimal (Mannion), Pitts (Barcello), PJC (Doutrive). I doubt Hazzard is as good as TJ because no one is, and Koloko is obviously not a guard, but if Smith or Randolph decide to stay.... someone is either redshirting or getting zero minutes.

True. Gettings is an unknown and Miller usually runs more than 3 guys taller than 6'6.

I'm looking back to the 2012-13 season. Angelo Chol was the 10th guy off the bench (and the 4th big) - he was playing 8.5 minutes a game. I'm thinking something comparable in terms of minute for Gettings.

What I am little surprised about is that Gettings has practiced with the team and that there has been no information on how good he is. Is he comparable to like Ryan Luther? For example.
