Question for the recruiting guru's...
« on: February 09, 2019, 12:16:50 AM »
Seems like there is genuine excitement about this class, we filled the right needs and, for once, actually have some talent returning.

I read about each player and got excited, finally we are recruiting better....But alas, the class ranks 10th in the conference. I know these rankings are dubious but we seem to consistently be ranked in the lower 1/2 of the conference in recruiting.

Are the guys who follow recruiting happy with Sumlin's class? Is 10th good enough?

Not a guru but

Some players are exceptional and can make a huge impact. Easier to see in basketball. Players like Scooby, Carey, Hill more recently, and many during the 90's. We have some game changers on the current roster on both sides of the ball. Our biggest weaknesses right now are first our DL and second our OL. That is what Standford and USC always seemed to have and why we struggled against them. Alabama, Ohio State, LSU all the same. Basically NFL lines in college. I like this class a lot. I hope, and think we will add a couple grad-transfers on the lines. OL needs depth and DL we really need help. Even with the guys I mentioned in the first line, we have never gotten over the top. We have likely the most game changers on our roster then we have had since the 90's and we have a decent class but nobody knows if those players will turnout or flop. We have a long list of flops. Right now I believe we have no less than 7 potential game changers of the 20 signed. How many will flop? How many others will surprise? I am optimistic but concerned about that line situation. Class is solid. Looking for better next year!
