My PRE_Preseason hype for this season
« on: April 24, 2019, 09:14:14 AM »
Khalil Tate!

Everything about Khalil great is still there and improved because last years experience of a new system and the combined injury issue. His arm is more accurate and he has learned to prolong the pass with his legs and keep his focus down field as well. his ability to run was limited due to injury last year but expect him to bring back some of that run option this year. One thing for sure is that Tate did not come back to be average! he wants the South and the PAC this year and believes this team can get there.

He will be at his best this year and with Tate at full strength it will be hard to target both guys out of the backfield.

Josh McCauley

He is now a scholarship player and deserving of it. He returns as an anchor on the O line for the offense that led that conference in rushing last year. He is the leader of our OL and should be able to pull this unit together over the summer.

Donovan Laie

I was not impressed with his follow through on plays when they went to the opposite side or when nobody lined up over him early in the year. As a pass protector he was much better. Now that he has started and had the offseason to improve he should be a solid anchor on Tate's back side. Also the run game picked up as the season went on. Yes he moved to the right side but definitely can handle the left side.

Jalen Harris

Spring Game was his intro and he is set to have a huge year for our D. He finally has the size he needs to match the heart he plays with. He may be the star of the D before the year is done.

JB Brown

Opposite side of Harris and can slide inside at times because he is playing so big right now. Between these two guys our D front has improved by leaps and bounds. Even with the size in the middle last year our QB pressures were not where they needed to be. These two should make the difference even after losing PJ Johnson.

Lots to be excited about this coming Football Season!

Receivers: Mitchell and Curry are both new and both ready to shine along with Cooper, Wolma, and the rest of the receivers.

CBs: Rolland-Wallace and Barnes both shining in the Spring along with the return of Whittaker, and Burns shows some real depth at CB for a change.

DBs: Young, Young, Young, and a bunch more. The DBs are solid and deep. Should be the strength of the D this year.

Others that will also shine this year are Pandy, Smith, Tilford, Brightwell, and Cooper. We will have a much more complete team than we have had recently with a good balance of the Offense and an improved Defense. Special Teams should be much improved as well and should pay big dividends.

Good stuff, and I am excited about the season, even if it will be the first one I don't buy season tickets for since Mackovic days.  I think they will probably be a 9-3 team unless Coach Sumlin turns out to be the first coach that we've had that doesn't lose the games we should win.  There are always 1-2 games where we basically choke.  I see us starting 5-0, losing 2 of the next 3, splitting Utah/Oregon, and beating ASU.  But, since I won't be there, I hope this year they make me really regret not being there!
