for full Arizona Football roster from Arizonawildcats.com
The Arizona Wildcats will be down a wide receiver when they begin practice next week, as redshirt freshman Devaughn Cooper has been removed from the online roster.
Cooper was a three-star prospect out of Narbonne High School (Harbor City, Calif.) in 2016, ranked as a top-600 recruit in the nation.
Cooper recorded one catch in 2016 as a true freshman, which was good for 15 yards against Hawaii, but he missed the rest of the season with an injury and was awarded a redshirt year.
Cooper was expected to step into a bigger role in the slot in 2017, opposite of Shun Brown, Arizona’s top receiving target. The 5-foot-10 Cooper was also a candidate to return kicks and punts for the Wildcats in 2017.
Receivers coach Theron Aych will have to move on with Tyrell Johnson, who has been injury-prone his entire career, and a combination of Tony Ellison and Cedric Peterson to fill Cooper’s void in the slot.
Cam Denson is expected to be Arizona’s No. 2 receiver.
Boles is on the roster
Former Boise State defensive lineman Dereck Boles is listed on Arizona’s online roster, which was updated Friday.
Head coach Rich Rodriguez said Wednesday at Pac-12 Media Day that this would likely be the case, but admitted the addition wasn’t “100 percent yet, because he’s got some academic work he’s got to finish up.”
Boles is listed at 6-2, 296 pounds. The redshirt junior spent last season at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas.
Boles originally committed to Arizona back in May, flipped to South Florida a month later, but eventually settled back with the Wildcats.
Now, he will be reunited with UA defensive coordinator Marcel Yates, who coached Boles at Boise State a couple years back.
As expected, USC transfer Noah Jefferson is not listed on Arizona’s roster.
