Arizona Vs Washington 🏈 game discussion thread 10/12/19 at 8pm on FS1

Our Arizona Wildcats are the hottest team in the Pac-12 right now, having won four straight games. Khalil Tate returned last weekend at Colorado, and Tate delivered with one of his best ever passing games completing 31-41 passes for 404 yards and three touchdowns. He led the Wildcats to a 35-30 victory against Colorado on their home turf.

Arizona ranks seventh nationally in total offense at 539.2 yards per game. The Wildcats like to distribute the wealth offensively, with five players tallying rushing touchdowns and nine with receiving scores. Junior receiver Brian Casteel recorded seven receptions for 74 yards including a touchdown against Colorado. Arizona's senior running back J.J. Taylor earned just one carry after missing the prior game to injury. His health is questionable heading into Saturday.

The Washington Huskies have seen their playoff hopes dashed and their nationally ranking disappear in recent weeks thanks to losses to Cal and Stanford. Now UW looks to stay competitive in the Pac-12 North standings with a win over South foe Arizona. Washington will need a much better outing from its offense than the 294 yards they put up against Stanford.

Quarterback Jacon Eason, a transfer from Georgia, looked subpar against the Cardinal, completing just 16-36 passes with one touchdown and one interception. His receiving core didn't help him out much, either. Aaron Fuller was the only Huskies receiver with more than one catch. Fuller is a great weapon, sure, but Eason needs more consistent targets. Washington also may have taken a hit to its rushing game when freshman back Richard Newton left in the third quarter with a foot injury. Newton leads the team with six rushing touchdowns. Junior running back Salvon Ahmed was held to 28 yards on six carries against the Cardinal.

Washington opened as a -9.5 favorite and the line has now dropped to -6.

Let's talk about how you think the CATS will do this weekend.

Let's Go! Beat the UDub & BEARDOWN!!!

I think we can win this one in a shoot out. Hopefully Tate is on his game and the Defense keeps impoving. I'm pretty excited for this one!

I think we unquestionably win a shootout. We need to get to the line quickly and catch the UW defense off guard when they line up man coverage.

If either team bleeds the clock, I think the Huskies have a major advantages.

A lot of sites these days use prediction models but I like to look at the raw yardage and stats NCAA.com provides. I was surprised to learn that UW is ranked 50-65th in all defensive and offensive categories. UA Is 6th overall offense, 9th passing, 21st rushing. The only thing that gives UW advantage on paper is Washington's pass ranked 69th v. UA’s  128, but they managed to contain Colorado and TT. Another thing is UW is 65 rushing on offense while UA’s rush D is at 50. Both teams causing turnovers, UA turnover margin tied for 10th in fbs  @ +5 UW 38th +3. Ball hawks UA 9 int’s (0 @ Colorado)

Washington obviously has the size and talent over the Cats,  but like UA they are young and inexperienced. Arizona’s young guys won on the road at a sold out Folsom Field. UA wins many categories  on paper except special teams and pass defense, and defensive scoring but this team isn’t the same from the Hawai’i and NAU games.

Coaching staff has tailored their strategy for each opponent after Nau before and during games. One last thing is UW is scary at full potential, byu/usc, but shown inconsistency. I don’t think we’ve seen UA at their full  potential at least offensively. Don’t think D has reached their ceiling, but if they can maintain what they have done thus far it’s enough to get a quality win

I love Zona +5.5. I think Khalil finally breaks thru and takes this one over. I also hope we get to see more of Bam Smith, that dude is a playmaker.
