Arizona Vs Oregon St 🏈 game discussion thread 11/2/19 at 130pm on PAC12N

PAC 12 Conference foes will collide on Saturday afternoon, when the Oregon State Beavers travel to Arizona Stadium to face the Arizona Wildcats. The Beavers have lost four of their seven games and are coming off a bye last weekend. In their last game, Oregon State blew a 14-point lead before scoring late to earn a 21-17 road victory against California.

B.J. Baylor found pay dirt from 13 yards out with less than five minutes remaining to put the Beavers ahead to stay. Oregon State QB Jake Luton threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns on the afternoon.

The Arizona Wildcats have lost three straight games and fired defensive coordinator Marcel Yates. The Wildcats have surrendered 133 points during the skid and need two victories in their final four games to become bowl eligible. On Saturday, Arizona allowed 24 points during the second quarter of a 41-31 road loss against Stanford.

Senior QB Khalil Tate threw for 205 yards to go along with two touchdowns and two interceptions. J.J. Taylor added 107 yards on 16 carries for the Wildcats.

Arizona holds a 24-15-1 edge in the all-time series and has won the last two matchups by 21 points each. The Wildcats need this victory to have any real shot of going to a bowl.

The Wildcats -5.5 point favorite.

Let's talk about how you think the CATS will do this weekend.

It'll be interesting to see how our defense holds up against OSU's offense.

Luton is extremely underrated.  The Beavers can move the ball efficiently.  I'm hoping that Cecil makes a statement and our DB's show up with fire.

As long as Taylor is healthy, I'm confident that we'll put up significant points (regardless of who is playing QB).

Personally I think Stanford was an easier game. Hope we get a lift from the coaching change which often happens, but we will have to score some points and the change won't help that a bit unless the D scores. Our D played very well the first half vs Washington and pretty dang good the first half vs USC. Outside of that yes Yates needed to go. The bigger question is why we started there? Our O did nothing against Washington and USC and really did not look good against the trees. In fact it has been dismal all season.
I think that Cecil will be an upgrade for the D and we may see a new ST coach soon, but Mazzone is likely to finish the season. If the O scores more he may return, but I expect him to retire before too long. That would be best for us because Sumlin ain't going nowhere with his big buyout. I think Heeke would get the axe if Sumlin gets it. Our best chance is his retirement. Cecil was an analyst and I believe Marinelli has bigger visions than just an analyst as well which is what brought him across the country. That would be a HUGE upgrade for an OC and could turn this team around faster than anything. One thing I like about CKS is that he allows his coordinators to run with that position. Lou Holtz did that with great success. Lou surrounded himself with great assistants though. RR and KS seem to drag along those who were with them rather than finding the BEST assistants available. Cecil do a great job and Marinelli should get his shot soon. That would be exciting to see.

That had little to do with the OSU game so here is my spill. Arizona HC this weekend. We usually win this one every year. We will win Saturday! If we don't then the pressure will be VERY HEAVY on Sumlin to make changes he does not want to make. Like fire Mazzone and others on the O staff. I don't worry about the current players so much with the coaching changes but the recruits could change directions in the fall out. I think Cecil will be a stronger recruiter in Arizona.
