Arizona routes the NAU lumberjacks at home 65-41

The Arizona Wildcats took out any lingering frustrations they may have had from the season-opening loss at Hawaii on an overmatched NAU squad, blowing out the FCS Lumberjacks 65-41 on Saturday night before an announced crowd of 40,741 at Arizona Stadium.

Arizona (1-1) set a school record for points in the first half, leading 51-13 at the break while...

I think using the word, "Coasts" to describe the results would have been more precise. Winning 70-something to 20-something would have been a route. Winning 60-something to 40-something speaks to a game void of defense, excuses not withstanding.

To their credit, most of the backups were in for the 2nd half. 51-13 is a nice blowout...and that was just the first half score.

Still, our second string DBs were getting bribed by the aNAU skill positions. That needs to be fixed before TTU comes to town.

Weren't the starters in at the end of the first half and the start of the second?

I think the defense was mostly all starters for most all of the game...

He's right, of course, about the celebration penalties.

But here is a clue for you coach: RUN THE DAMN BALL!! When we run, we score and we stop 'them' from scoring. But in the second 1/2 we sort of abandoned the run. WHY? Taylor needs a LOT of touches. Tate needs NOT to throw as much.

Our starters were definitely playing on offense at the start of the 2nd.  Can't remember defensively, but I thought a lot of backups came in...which was the primary reason that NAU scored TD's on 4 of their 5 2nd half drives.  Ugliness.
